Comfort food for me, is any thing that transport me to my childhood memories and reminds me of home and my family.

I went back home during the holidays and it was a really short trip this time. I had planned to cook and eat all the dishes that I used to make with my mother and grandmother as a kid.

My first stop from the airport was the vegetable vendor near my house. I brought home all the vegetables and fruits that are only found there. Eating seasonal food has always been the ritual in my family. I cooked with my mother and grandmother on most of the days I was home. There are so many delicious ingredients and maintaining their taste is key while cooking.

We should make an attempt to learn at least one dish that reminds us of something important in our life. No matter where we travel or move in the world, we can get creative and customize that dish to include a local ingredient. There are very few things that can make you as happy instantly as comfort food.
